That's pretty intentional. The host, Stephen Colbert, satirizes the Republican image this way; he actually takes the piss out of Republicans pretty consistently (though he goes after both parties; I think he just finds Republicans more ridiculous).

Ah thanks for clearing that up and I assume he just has a lot more to work with republicans, material wise. I am no expert on your country but some "confederate" states have done some crazy stuff, like defying logic and crazy abortion laws and all that.
