Yeah and Travis was the only one live. Typical pre-recorded pop awards show BS.

What is so special about that solo? The song is still pretty horrible, IMHO.. And the drums... Give me Jon Theodore or Brann Dailor any day of the week.
Yer that solo is meh, dont really rate Travis just smacks the drums as hard as possible!
Well, if you take into the context of what the rest of the show revolved around (MJ of course), it was cool to have that energy for just a couple of minutes. Especially since I had the subs and satellites on while the show was playing. What is so special about that solo?
Jon Theodore or Brann Dailor - don't know who they are, will have to google.
But I (and a lot of other hip-hop heads - key point there) know who Travis Barker is and it's good to see him be able to participate on a really short notice, especially after almost getting killed himself.
That's why it was special I suppose. I didn't say that he was the best drummer mechanically.
No matter now being that Viacom pulled the video - 'itches.
KJ Sawka is famous for doing live D&B...

although I think Jojo Mayer is the better technician and creative beatmaker:

Jon Theodore is the former drummer of The Mars Volta... He now drums with Zach De La Rocha in their two-piece called One day as a Lion. Before TMV he was in some dub bands. Their current drummer, Thomas Pridgen, is also fantastic, although he has a much more mechanical stiye than Theodore, who has big dub influences and great energy and fluidity.
Brann Dailor is the drummer for metalband Mastodon. Amazing energy but still has the composure to just keep it simple if it fits the track.
I can see your connection with hip hop making this somehow more of an interesting thing... But still, it's a quasi-mimed award ceremony. And rolling him across the stage like a circus freak didn't do it for me either.
Jojo Mayer is a hero.
