just read a hefty review on the zero4, as i'm thinking of picking one up. apparently it's got a "bucketload" of features, the only con the author wrote about was the build quality being questionable (plastic pots).

My little brother had the KorgZero8 that he ran three turntables, Ableton, Serato, An Akai MPD.

He enjoyed it, and could do some wicked Scratch/Dubstep routines, but he eventually traded the Zero8 in and picked up the Vestax VCM600.

I picked up a Zero 4 recently because of the massive price drop and feature list. I only have a few complaints, and nothing about the build quality. When people describe the build quality of the Zero line in reviews, they seem to liken the Zero to being similar to a korg padKontrol, all plastic, very cheap, when in fact, it's really sturdy. Yes it has plastic pots. Don't hit them with hammers when you're playing and they won't snap off, pretty simple.
    Only complaints are:
-There is a quick drop in audio when switching inputs from Firewire audio, to audio+midi, to midi only.
-the Sampler isn't very useful for more than 1 shots
-the BPM detection when not receiving a master clock externally isn't very accurate.

Yeah he really enjoys his set up now, running Serato through Ableton to live loop his scratch routines while mashing up various dubstep etc... tracks.

Ive also had a zero 4 for a while now, all Phaidons complaints are valid, other than that it is a very versatile and nice to use mixer.

    I have the Zero4.

If something happens and your Firewire connection severs, it's a pain in the ass to get any audio up and running again. Including regular cd's. So be careful.
