Buttons for length of sample with Beatmasher?
yo
So i got this crazy idea right, because as many of you probably know the beatmasher is an awesome sampler fx thingy, and use it alot. But the thing is changing the lenghts can be a little tedious at times using a knob.
Soooo i was thinking could it be possible to map specific buttons for specific 'lengths' of the beatmasher? as in a button for 1/4 bars (at 50%), a button for 1/8th bars (at 75%) and etc etc. I know its possible to map a button to set a knob at a particular value, but i have no knowledge in doing so.
Anyone out there done this yet, or have any know-how of how this might be done? i think it could be quite handy in directly setting lengths when needed.

Yeah, it's really easy.
Pick a button, set it to Effect Parameter 3, Direct, and then select the needed value.

sleep well, let us know the results. This is a fun trick for the beatmasher

disclaimer: i'm super new at midi programming/customization...
but couldn't you also assign those different sample lengths to different velocity levels (assuming you were using velocity sensitive pad or key). for instance a soft hit gives you the 50% and a harder hit gives you the 75% etc. of course it could take some getting used to, but could be cool for that tactile heat of the moment performance feel...

I think that is a reasonably good idea. finding good ways to use velocity is an un-tapped country as of yet. Not sure how well this would work but its worth a try.

You could do this with Bome really easily. Bento's been trying to get me to, but now nothing I use has velocity.
You'd just set variables based on the velocity and what message gets sent.

might have to try something like this on my mpd24
