Default CDJ's : powered USB HUB?

A place I spin at has two CDJ 850's installed, but my laptop only has 1 USB2 port, and they don't work through USB3 (I tried, a lot). I was about to buy a powered USB hub, but then I realised the CDJ's have their own power supply.

So does the hub need to be powered? Non-powered ones are more readily available, and most of all smaller, which is why I'm asking. I'll be using the 850's both as MIDI controller and soundcard.
    Thanks for sharing your experience.

No, the hub doesn't need to be powered.
