Rme Hdsp Rpm Mobile Kit
Hi There,
I'm a club DJ and for some time now i've been using PCDJ software and a ESI Gigaport usb sound card with no problems as such..
I recently upgraded to PCDJ-VJ and had to upgrade my sound card to a MAYA44 usb(ESI Gigaport not compatible with PCDJ-VJ). This particular sound card has not preformed for me at all I'm getting volume drops and an unconsistant audio quality output.
I am currently looking at this sound card RME HDSP RPM MOBILE KIT, and was wondering has anyone any experience with it, all advice and info would be appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear you have had problems with your USB soundcards. Without knowing more about the processing power, OS and memory on your system I can't really offer any help, other than to say many people on this board are happy with their USB and Firewire soundcards, so your experience is unusual.
Looking at this thing:

It seems to me like way overkill for DJing - a PCI card AND a breakout box that only has a few inputs and outputs? Unless you're already highly invested in RME's gear then I wouldn't opt for a PCI solution unless I wanted to record and mix 32 channels of a fully miked 5-piece band with submixes for their monitors. Audio data takes less bandwidth and processing than you might imagine compared to, say, 3D gaming, and the PCI solution is really there to solve solving the latency issue of doing a round trip from microphone to EQ to FX and back to the artists headphones. As a DJ you're really only pushing sound *out* of your computer, so latency is less of an issue.
Save your money and look again into a high quality 6 or 8 output USB or Firewire solution. You'll get more IO channels for less money and a stable system is possible:
