It's not so much about the software & hardware you use. It's all about what you do with it. Some people make music with rusty synths & drum machines, and it sounds better than some of the state-of-the-art hardware.

I personally use an S2 - Machine combination with Traktor. But if I had the possibility to go vinyl, I'd do it anytime! Traktor is awesome, but something just puts me off the digital side. Mostly went dear because of the lower cost.

As for VDJ, don't like it. The GUI puts me off...

It's a very capable piece of DJ software that in many ways out performs the other major products on the market.

It really is just a matter of preference. If you like VDJ use VDJ. Bad mixes are not caused by the software, bad mixes are caused by bad DJs.

It's all preference and what you're comfortable with. I've been happily using VDJ for almost 7 years now! It's gotten a bad rap, I think, because many people started digital djing on cracked versions of VDJ that didn't work well.

This right here is pretty much the best info in here.

VDJ have some incredible beat mashing and gating built in that no other program has.

Djing is 90% song choice anyways.

I have been using VDJ for its music video and video cell capabilities 4 times a week, for the last year- No problems at all, easy to understand.
I've also been using Traktor for the last 4 years. I love Traktor.
I think people give VDJ a bad rap especially because of its "skins".. makes it seem amateur maybe?

Either way, Traktor is more developed in its features imo

    Software: Logic, Maschine

    I disagree...

VDJ has more complex and better features but traktor has easier access and implementation of their more technical stuff... but both are not quite there in terms of the ultimate dj software, although honestly if you have the time to figure out how VDJ works IMO it is much closer than traktor purely because you can develop your own "workflow" and don't need to rely on the company creating functionality for you. Almost everything you could ever need is in the extensive midi, skin and plugin SDK's. And you get all the power of C++ for anything that is not natively provided.
