Default Korg Kontrol 49 vs. M-Audio Axiom 49

I want a MIDI-keyboard as a master-keyboard for producing (and learning how to play) and using it at DJ-gigs to assist my VCI-100.

I've got the chance to grab a relatively cheap Korg Kontrol 49 which offers great additional controls with good visual feedback.

An Axiom 25 is already in front of me right now. I like it a lot, but 25 keys are just too few to learn playing.

Which of the two would you choose? (Other ideas are welcome as well).

Any way you can have both? I have an axiom49 and an mpk25. I use them quite differently. It is difficult playing any type of complete song on a 25-key keyboard, but they are convenient for taking to gigs and playing out a little lead melody.

I'm positive that I'll keep the Axiom 25.

The question is whether I should get an Axiom 49 or Korg Kontrol 49.

I've always been partial to korg, for some unfathomable reason, but it depends on what price you could get 'em at, and which layout you like better. I'm going to have to venture that all the knobs and buttons on each do the same thing (i.e. whatever you want them to)

Although depending on what you'll be doing, those leds on the korg could make your life a hell of a lot easier, I'd bet.
I'm not good at things, but I like to pretend I am.

I can get it for 300€ including full warranty.

Guess I'll take the chance and if I don't like it sell it again.

Sorry about misreading your message. You may want to consider the differences in feel you're going to get. Having both keyboards be from the same brand and style, you could probably be more comfortable transitioning between the two.

I had been looking at a Korg microKontrol some time back, and recall reading some issues with getting the LED's to work how people wanted and complaints about the joystick. And seeing how it is very similar to the Kontrol49, you may want to scan through their forum before purchasing.

well for learning to play i have gone with an m-audio pro keys 88. its fully dynamic, which gets a bit closer to the real thing and of course it has 88 keys, though so far i would have been able to do what i have done so far in the past weeks with 49 keys.

its fairly affordable, super sturdy aka heavy and of course its fairly big too. but it does the job and i think its the way to go with you really want to learn how to play.

Your suggestion with the 88 key-keyboard is good.

I bought the Korg Kontrol 49 though, but lets see how far I get with it.
For DJing it seems to be a good option.
