Default Apc40 Channel Routing to External Mixer

Sorry for all the apc and mixer questions but I just wanna make sure I do this right.
To make the apc a little simpler, I would wanna route channels 1-2 to channel one on the mixer and 3-4 to channel 2 and use channels 6-8 for other functions right?
First of all does that make sense? What could i use channels 6-8 for and second how within Ableton would I map my channels 1-4 on the apc to channels 1-2 on my xone 42?

No need to make so many threads... keep it all in the same thread.

Download Will Marshall's APC40 Ableton template. It's free and if you like it you can pay 20 bucks for the pro version.

Channel 1 -> channel 1 on the mixer. Channel 2 - > channel 2 on the mixer etc.
Other channels on APC can be used for firing samples, FX, etc.

It'll be in the channel column under audio out. You'd do ext. mix or something like that and then choose channel 1/2.

You can open up the channels in the audio preferences. I'm not at home with my Ableton at the moment.
