Default Google Launches Chromebook Pixel: Enough for DJs?

I recently saw a video on youtube (from one of my fav. reviewers, watch it here: )

and he was talking about the Google Chromebook Pixel, made by google.

It looks like the MBP but has even a better retina display! lighter and thinner
They come with 'only' 32gb ssd or 64 BUT what's even better is you get 1TB cloud storage free (for 3 years)

Specs: - I'm pretty sure Google will improve them even more, this is like Google said: "For what's next"
    Screen:
    2560 x 1700 pixels (retina)
    GorillaŽ Glass multi-touch screen
    400 nit screen brightness

    CPU:
    IntelŽ Core™ i5 processor (Dual Core 1.8GHz)

    Others:
    Backlit Chrome keyboard
    Clickable, etched-glass touchpad
    Integrated 720p HD camera

    Extra:
One terabyte Google Drive cloud storage for three years1
12 free sessions of GoGoŽ Inflight Internet
100 MB/month for 2 years of mobile broadband from Verizon Wireless (LTE model). Carrier terms and conditions apply.

    Memory:
    4GB DDR3 RAM

    Design:
    Machined from anodized aluminum
Active cooling with no visible vents

I was thinking this is pretty good as a DJ laptop but then I discovered it uses Chrome OS.

What do you guys think about it? Would you want one of these if traktor/serato made their software available on Chrome OS

Traktor/Serato will never make their software available on Chrome OS. Not anytime soon anyways.

The point of Chrome OS was to produce as stripped down barebones system to get more computers into households. I don't know what they were trying to do with releasing this laptop. The SSD is far too small for the average person, and it's absurdly expensive IMO.

Even if Traktor/Serato was released for Chrome OS, I doubt anyone would buy it since there is so little support for Chrome OS.

That's the whole point of the "Pixel", they want it to be Google's Pionier, on the site it says:
    For what's next

btw you could change the 64 with 128 or 256gb ssd the 1TB cloud storage is def. a plus tho ^^

I dunno. I'm still not a fan of cloud storage. Drop box is nice and all, but I don't want everything stored on the cloud.

US internet is not fast enough to support cloud storage IMO.

Sure you can expand the SSD to 256 GB, but that's another 150-200 dollars. It's so weak for 1300 dollars too. Only 4 GB ram?? Everything needs to be shipping out with at least 8GB. i5 is also pathetic.

I don't even know if you can upgrade the SSD/RAM. If it's a unibody design it'll be difficult.

Just to clarify to everyone, it is NOT possible to DJ off one of these; "Chrome OS" is just a browser, its applications are HTML5-based, and have no form of I/O access to hardware. Its also highly likely that Google will lock the BIOS on these so it's impossible to install any other OS, making them essentially a $1299 paperweight.

So google managed to design a machine that

Looks and build quality* are similar to a macbook pro (*maybe)
Doesn't have a "real" operating system.
    Has less battery life.
    Has Slower Processor
    Has Half the Ram
    Comes with 1/4 the storage

and it ONLY costs $200 less than a Macbook ?

    LMAO

You might be tempted to store your tunes in the terrabyte 'cloud' - until you do a gig in a basement.

I really don't know what this machine is for, who it is aimed at, or who would want to buy it. The screen might tempt if you could run Photoshop on it, which you can't.

1 tb of google drive space, and only 100 mb of LTE data. Greed aways kills great ideas.

Yes I understand what you guys say but

Like Rome wasn't build in one day, the Macbook of apple wasn't either,

and as we see Google's own Chromebook isn't either.

But don't you guys think something great would come eventually?

I think this is a great start from google even if you don't like the current specs

    >>> based on current specs (ignore the OS) why wouldn't it be a great DJ laptop?
(because there are better ones does not count as an argument btw )

Perhaps you should tell us why you think it would be a great dj laptop, because I can't see any reason to get it for DJ'ing.
And how can you ignore the OS? It's quite important I think.
