Tried it, and I think he's using some kind of mapping because no matter what settings I try, not matter how dry or wet, I still can't find the way. Sometimes a distorted (which sounds pretty cool) sound comes out, next time I do exactly the same moves and the sound comes out completely different (and still nothing like the vid). I wish I had talent...

It matters which sound you grab with Beatmasher. Sample a snare or hi-hat and you will get better result.
