    Default hackintosh query!

Just wondering if anybody can point me in the direction of a good site that explains all the osx distros available to install on a PC as there sure is many. Any recommendations would be great also.

I own osx as I have a mac pro but want to try and make a hackintosh with a dell laptop for traktor.

Many thanks, ill let you all know how I get on.

The overall result if wobbly, from the various guys I know that have tried it, Dell 9, 10, regular HP laptops...its just wobbly, and is a "crappy user experience" etc.

Macbook Pro 13" aluminum...900$... or black macbook core 2 duo on craigslist, 650$...that's my advice.

With macs, since they hold their value 12x better than PC's (I can explain if need be) the hurdle is getting your FIRST mac, not each mac. I know you have a Pro already, so I'm not selling you...but I just scored a 15" 1.25GHz G4 powerbook for 250$ for my GF's daughter for her B-day and she is LOVING IT.

Yeah I cant imagine them being 100% stable and have never read about anyone using one with traktor. It will be probably something out of interest if I do end up making one.

Unless I can get a mac for no more than £500 I will be going down the windows route. As you mentioned they hold there value incredibly well and sourcing a cheap one here in the UK is a nightmare. Just goes to show how good osx is really.

I used a Shuttle based Hackintosh to do equipment testing and it ran solid 24/7 for over a year. If you pick the right hardware they rock solid.

Here's the specifics if you're interested...

Sorry, but my experience of computers says that must be rubbish.

Either the devices work, or they don't. Pick the right devices, it'll work.

What a surprise to see a Mac user recommending that people buy Macs.

    ;D

(Ah, I see Nem0nic has posted something backing this up).
