    Default Defected mac

    Hi guys,

i just bought a mac pro 10.8 2 days back. Is it normal for the mac to get luke warm within fifteen mins of usage and hot within an hour or is my mac defected?! Also my mac has a ram of 8gb. thought previously i was using a compaq with 2gb ram and now this mac doesnt feel as much faster. Like might just be a tad bit faster but no real upgrade i feel. Please help me out.

    Specs?
Macs do tend to get hot. It should however be quite snappy in terms of speed.

    It's 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i7
    8gb ram 16000 Mhz DDR3
    OS X 10.8.3

I don't think it's really as fast as 8gb ram. I don't play any games thought i have live and traktor loaded up on this though even when both of them are not open its slow.

Also i mainly bought this mac to avoid cpu overloading. Is that not gona happen anymore? because i loaded up an old dummy project which quite small though the cpu load showed a load of 15%.So im worried this too is gona start overloading. Am i not gona face any cpu overloading with the mac or should i expect that?

Also remember that that Harddrive in there be slow.

If you want REAL speed...SSD is the way to go.

Have you run Onyx and done a clean etc?

Those specs should be pretty damn tight.

not really meant to be. it's just the consequence of squeezing top hardware into a tiny, all-aluminium frame

You said 2gb ram in the previous rig. Judging by that, the processor could have been an early core duo, or even a single core celeron.
So an i7 with 8gb ram should be quite a lot snappier.
Would it be a major PITA to reinstall cleanly osx?
