TSI files are just plain MIDI which I'm sure will work fine on the R1, no hacking necessary. NI only allow HID control from the high end CDJs where they have no competing products themselves.

^Advanced HID does indeed work with my 2000s connected to VDJ. Is there a list of HID-compatible VDJ devices anywhere, and does it extend to controllers too?

I wouldnt say 'only the high end ones'. The lowly and pretty dated CDJ-400 runs HID perfectly fine! Also, I'm not sure if the XDJ-R1 is strictly a controller, as it has two CDJs in it and a stand alone mixer. I think its more a combination 2xCDJ and DJM, that can also control.

I don't really understand why they picked the CDJ 400 for Traktor HID, while neglecting the 350+850. It did have non-Advanced HID back in Traktor 1.x I guess.

I think you're probably on the money with your comment 'no competing products'. The 400 is outdated as hell, so was just a bit of fun and an 'easter egg', without affecting anything current and still having the 350+850 be 'not really bothering with Traktor'. But of course there are now plenty of Tsi's for both of those decks!

Yeah.. 850 and 350 users are still asking pio to update the firmware on their decks to support HID in 2.x
Pio won't do it, i mean, they had to have something to market the 900 with, didn't they :P

Pretty sure the restriction is imposed on NI's end as the 350 and 850 work fine as HID controllers for other software.

Know this is a longshot but can you use a USB hub and plug in multiple USB drives?

Doubt it. There's no drive selection menu on any of the Rekordbox players afaik.
