I don't use a VCI, but I did own the UDG Creator bag for a week. It's very well made, and if your stuff fits it's ideal. But it's not very flexible. My soundcard didn't fit into either dedicated pocket, and there's absolutely no expandability. I still get a ton more stuff in my Targus backpack (which I love). I took it back to Guitar Center. Given the expense, I'd try to get some hands-on time with the Creator before shelling out the bucks for it.

thanks steveboyett, getting a hands-on is with out a doubt the best thing i could do, but i live in denmark (read worlds smallest country), and the UDG carriers only has products from years back, so im really depending on other peoples opinions. im gonna check out some Targus bags then aswell, do you recommend anyone in particular?

I use this one (used to be the Metro, now it's the CityGear): http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=TCG650
They make a 17" version: http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=TCG216
And here's the XL, which is pretty good (though I like the CityGear design better): http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=TXL617
The Targus backpack line: http://www.targus.com/us/cases_laptop_backpacks.asp. These don't offer the level of protection that the UDG does, but the tradeoff with the UDG is that the rigidity that provides protection offers no flexibility. Plus they cost 1/3 as much.
I've seen Tamrac photo bags repurposed quite well, also. See the Expedition series here: http://www.tamrac.com/frame_exp.htm and the Cyberpack series here: http://www.tamrac.com/5259.htm

Just to give you an idea (and from my own morbid curiosity), I listed what I regularly bring to gigs in my Targus. Holy crap:
15.5" laptop
high-powered pad cooler
Presonus Firebox
Firefox MIDI controller
7-plug APC surge protector/power strip
Cables, laptop brick, wall wart, adapters, Hum-Ex
Mouse, Mousepad
Small clipboard w/signup sheet
Batteries, velcro cable ties, penlights
Business cards, pens, thumb drive
Demo CDs, flyers
Backup CDs (OS, apps, drivers, mixes, etc.)
iPod Nano & Belkin TuneStereo mic (for recording gigs)
Ultrasone DJ-1 Pro headphones
