iTunes is fine. Check the conversion options you want in the import tab.

Can anyone give me a good reason NOT to use Converterlite???

It's easy to use, reliable, and sounds perfectly good to my ears...

But I'm always open to suggestions...

I only use it to convert from .wav/.flac/.aiff to 320 .mp3.

But if there is a well established reason NOT to use this type of freeware to convert to .mp3, I'll reconsider...

Looks like a nice wee app mate. Don't get too click happy with the install though, looks like it wants you to add a yahoo toolbar etc.

Yeah - I'm always wary of that!

I've been using it for at least a year now, no issues whatsoever - does exactly what it says it does, and does it well.

Looks like it's just a GUI for FFMPEG and doesn't actually convert anything itself so it's not as bad as I expected.

CBR is a waste of space though and the program doesn't offer any VBR options, and of course offers no volume controls for those undergained recordings.

    I use MP3Gain for that.

    What's wrong with CBR???

Nothing, it just takes up more space and usually doesn't sound any better than VBR. Years ago not all players would support VBR so CBR was often recommended, these days not so much.

The real question is why use MP3 instead of AAC.

Ended up using iTunes, it's very simple once you get your settings right. Just click and convert Thanks
