I was reading an article the other day where a big, superstar DJ said to play the music you love. If you love the music you're playing, it will come across in your DJing. So, collect the stuff you love now and since it's two genres/sub genres, mix those and get the technical details of mixing down. You can always branch into other stuff as you find and collect songs from other genres/sub genres you.

I grew up in Chicago and lived in Milwaukee, so house, funky house, disco tunes gone house are what I love. But I've found myself liking some tech house, deep house, nu disco and some of the progressive stuff out there. I also love trance because I play the piano and love the chord progressions. I pretty much detest dubstep and most electro house, but you might find some of that stuff in one of my playlists.

You're debating on how your gonna mix house with house.

Just mix what you enjoy, as long as keys arent clashing and the bass isn't doubling youll be golden

Not necessarily, sometimes it does sound good despite the keys. Just listen and see what sounds good to you, that's the most important thing.

You can mix any genre you like. It depends upon your taste of music.
