Default Best mp3 format for vinyl digitizing

I have for many years now digitized my vinyl using soundforge and then converted to mp3 16bit 128kps 44100hz. i want to improve my sound quality. i noticed that soundforge allows me to record in 32bit 328kbs 48000hz. are all three of these compatible with the U-Mix-control pro mixer and Cross DJ. are they advisable settings for increased quality. (i have a recent alienware laptop with over 1tb of storage so processing power and storage are not a problem). can anyone recomend any other combination that would be desirable. also is there a problem of mixing mp3's with diffrerent sample frequencies, and bit depths. Any advice would be greatly valued. Thanks Jim

If you have a decent amount of archive space (should not be on a laptop), 88/96k FLAC. 24bit depth is more than enough.

16bit 320kbps VBR MP3 or AAC for mobile storage.

You should be recording in wav, aiff or flac formats at 24bit and then converting to MP3 if you don't have enough space on your lappy. Does Traktor even play 24 bit wav files? Anyone, Bueller?

    +1

Double check the bitrate of the soundcard on inputs, to be sure that it can deliver 24bit. If so, great. If not, then 16bit is still more than good enough.

24 bit WAV works fine in Traktor. IIRC Traktor uses a 32 bit mixer.

I would record to .wav then convert from that, up to you.
