NO NO NO NO just bought a MKII four months ago
Believe it or not, I'm on the fence about this one.
Looks nice but I still think I made the right decision by switching my MK1 for Push
Yes, you're mostly right. But the thing that really grates is the fact that you don't know with NI what's coming up. they are so closed about their product development and they have been completely silent about maschine for a year, except for some expansion packs and some promo vids. I know new stuff will always come out and your gear gets outdated, but the MKII is a year old, I find it lacking in respect to your base who have allready payed a lot of money, to keep em in the dark like that. sure, noone is is forcing me to buy the new one, but I was under the impression that I was paying for something that would be a standard piece of gear for some time to come. had I known that this was coming I would have waited a while longer and not bought a mkII plus audio interface (wich is integrated in this one it seems).
so yeah, it's mostly a hindsight thing.
EDIT : Also, if they made a modular addon, everyone could just add it to their existing setup. Now you either have to sell your old one and get a new one, or just buy it new and have a double software license and an spare small one lying around, either way, you lose more money, yay.

Interesting, as long as they keep supporting the MK1 I'm happy with it.
These updates mostly seem mostly insignificant- you can get a used MK1 with software for under $200. $1000 can buy you some nice real hardware and open you up to a different world...
Very little equipment is relevant for very long now days.
johnny- the maschine studio doesn't look like a replacement to the mk2. I doubt it is being discontinued, it's a completely different price point with some minor additional features.
mostly just controllers. other gear seems to have a much longer viable life and holds its value a lot longer.
Even my Motu audio interface came out over 10 years ago and is still supported and works great.

Yeah I know, they are supposed to co-exist like mikro, MKII, and then the studio. I'm just annoyed because I would have paid, and I have nearly paid that amount (including external audio interface) for such a product and again NI is gonna come out of nowhere, announce and release it in a 2 week window or something. It just sucks if you're the kind of person who has to make a lot of effort to save up some money, and are an absolute horror about making purchase discisions. Hey, I can always get 2.0 faceplates right?
