Would it be a good idea to start a petition for a 1.4 firmware 14-bit midi update? Perhaps send it to vestax and maybe they'll get the point that everyone wants the vci-100 to be 14-bit midi? What do you guys think?

I don't think a full 14 bit midi on a vci is possible, It was wishfull thinking. I read somewere only 10 or 12 bit could have been achieved, don't quote me on that though.
MBPro - UC-33e - Audio 10 - TSP2 - Xone 22 - 1210's - Mackie MR5's
Correct - the micro used in the vci only has a 10 bit adc, which would still be much better for the pitch fader,
however I think the Jog could be improved upon a great deal as that does not rely on the ADC.
But vestax are never going to implement that in the VCI - it makes no sense commercially so fair enoug, however what we need is a firmware update which fixes the bugs ...
yeah. i think if we're lucky we may get one more firmware update to address some bugs and maybe incorporate a few of the 1.3 additions, but don't see any more than that.
Remember it was really a Traktor 3 product, and while vestax have done really well with it and probably learned a lot the'll move onto something new now, maybe in conjunction with the next big Traktor update to 2.0 to that they can match all the controlls and have the correct amount of buttons etc to mirror any new features NI implement (video or sampler etc)
k
Vestax need to pull their fingers out of their arses and sort this Firmware out.
At least give us the 10 bit that the VCI can handle.
Ive had my VCI only for about 6 months and i really like it bit as soon as something better comes out that has lots of knobs and buttons (not the VCI300) im switching.
From a UK perspective (hands up who struggled to get VCI) they are bunch of cock-ends that make great products and then forget they made them. Idiots.
i would guess they are seeing still much greater sales on the vci-100 than they ever imagined. so i would say it still makes sense to push out an update .. unless they have a successor ready to be released that they are 100% sure will be just as popular.

Yeah i agree on both points. The VCI 100 is selling out everywhere so keep the interest and make the update already.
If not, get a new model out.
They'd be smarter to put out an update than a new model, especially after the money people spent practically begging for the old model. Those people would be pretty peeved.
Yeah i probably spent as much on calls as i paid for mine constantly ring round shops
"have got the VCI 100 in yet?"
"no ring again next week
30 shops 3 times a week for about 6 months. Grrr
I think the fact that they have not released an update suggests they either consider the vci-300 to be an advancement on the vci, or have something up their sleeves for the next 6 months to a year.
I'm guessing/hoping the latter.
