Yes, I ran Traktor on my Eee for about 6 months. Get 2gb of memory and you'll be fine. Make sure your tracks are pre-analyzed. I got rid of it because it won't run Itch.

I found some trouble with 1GB RAM a while back. Running on 4GB now, so no probs. But I'd imagine it would be fine for bedroom stuff, but i wouldn't trust it if you were given a set in MOS!
It'll start kicking it when you overload the USB ports etc.. But why not give it a go (btw, mac's are the way forward.. just thought i'd point that out )

ouch belchman! at least you got your data off it and didn't have to pay for data recovery... I just don't trust hard drives; treat them as if they will all fail. Even the new SSDs have their problems too. In my gaming notebook i have a corsair SSD and that thing is beginning to develop problems of it's own. Good thing i use acronos true image/ karen's replicator on my pc and time machine on my mac to backup to external drives. That way if anthing goes south; i have all my data.

just went and made a backup of my collection again,
Seriously I never ever had a harddrive that survived more than four years, worst thing is that they don't even just leave you just because you beat the shit out of them but also slowly disintegrate while you think that everything is just working fine....

yeah.. just invested in a seriously sturdy external HDD as a backup! need to start doing all that kinda thing. Unfortunaly had to spend a fortune on re-buying all of my beatport tunes from the last 6 months - but it has given me a good reason to re-organise my music on my itunes, which is cool and looking forward to Mr. mau5's new release next monday to add to my current 35 strong music library!
