    Default PA advice (2 active speakers) for under 500€?

    I've basically said it all in the title A friend is planning on buying a small PA and needs your advice.

    PS We can probably get Yamaha at a discount so please have that in mind

    If you want to do some karaoke, sure. For DJing you'll need a bigger budget unless you get some good second hand deals.

    How much discount could you get off the Yamaha DXR series?

    Passive.

    Yamaha BR10 ($200/ea)
    American Audio VLP300 ($200) -OR- Behringer EPQ450 ($200)
    Cables ($50)

    That's about the cheapest "new" system I could recommend. These are not "great" but they are "good." There won't be "massive" low end...but it will do to make money. As an added bonus, this system is easy to upgrade by adding a crossover, second amp, and a subwoofer...when you have the $$$.

    Yeah, thats what I'm thinking too, he needs a bigger budget. Probably 20% for the discount but even that isn't much considering Yamaha isn't a low end brand.
