I like the mix and love the track selection, but the mix can do without the scratching

Agreed. Great track selection and mixing. Wasn't a fan of the scratching, at least not for deep house and especially in song breakdowns.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Zabiela scratch b4 but he does it in a more with effects than for scratching
