Default Timecode or Traktor X1 for transition to a club

Hi, I am looking to get a gig at a Bournemouth nightclub next year as I am moving there soon. I wondered for the long run whether it would be better getting timecode vinyl or the modular traktor x1 setup. Which would be better for mixing and which is more accepted in a club environment?

Also, how easy is it to transition from timecode vinyl to CDJ's (if you can beatmatch on timecode etc)?

    Timecode Setup v. X1/MIXER Setup?

    Thanks

You can do more with an X1 and mixer than with Timecode. You get more control over traktor. However, if you are scratching, go timecode.

Why not both? The X1 was designed to be used alongside a Traktor timecode setup.

Its the cost of getting in both at the moment.

Would an X1 setup be 'accepted' in a club enviroment or is CDJs the standard?

If you're bringing Traktor along with you anyway it doesn't really matter. Timecode will of course prepare you for a non-laptop setup, since you won't really be able to beatmatch on an X1.

Do a majority of djs use Traktor integration with CDJs nowadays?

I am located in Bournemouth, and you'll commonly find 2 x CDJ 1000 / CDJ 2000 and DJM 800 / 900 in most booths there. It may be different for room 2 booths, as they tend to have lower end gear.

I can't say I've seen any people just use an X1 alone down here. But as mentioned before, the X1 is supposed to be used alongside a DVS setup.

If cost is an issue, the Audio 4 or Audio 8 go for cheap now on Gumtree, which just leaves you with the cost of purchasing the Traktor Scratch Pro 2 software.

You'll need a sound card anyway for an X1 setup, so you may as well buy a timecode-capable one.

I've never met anyone that can beatmatch on vinyl that cannot do it on CDJ's. I've met plenty that can beatmatch on CDJ's that cannot on vinyl, probably the majority.

Beatmatching on CDJ's is a piece of p*ss if you put them in CD mode and use the top plate like a record.
