simple, a crowd that is dancing / having fun on the dancefloor...
If they don’t want to see the light…..just make them feel the beat…..
A great dj knows their tunes inside and out, knows music theory, pays attention to the crowds reaction, knows when to build the crowd up and when to give them a rest, never stops practicing and learning, and the most important thing- does what is asked of him or her by the person signing the paycheck.

There are some other overlooked things that are a must to know if you dj in a professional setting and want to be respected by other DJs. You need to know how to open, how to set up and tear down your equipment without disturbing other djs. You need to know how to beatmatch. You will never be able to perform along side another dj or be able to transition in or out of your set without knowing how to beat match. In fact, in St. Louis, the crowd will boo you off the stage if you train wreck. Learn it and stay sharp. Have a back up for everything. Carry CDs, USB sticks, or at the bare minimum, a mix on your phone.

For me personally as somebody who wants to enjoy dancing, having a DJ take you on a journey (smooth crossover between tracks) rather than cutting tracks.
ive been a dj for quite sometime now, and ive met all types of asshole/douchebag/humble/nice djs out there. I think its good for a dj to be humble about what they do and where they do it, dont be a dick bout things and have an open mind about things. A good dj can play songs but i think a great dj is one that can open/close any venue at anytime no matter what the occasion or the amount of people, and do a good damn job at it
