Default Buying a used VCI- risky or not?

I am wondering about maybe buying a used VCI-100 off a guy on the net, but has only 1 month of warentee. How strong are these units? Are they usually ok and do not need too much service or is it better to buy new for 2-3 hundred more ?

Buy the used one, if it has the v1.1 firmware you could always easily upgrade it. The VCI-100's are more or less built like a tank, if it happens that any parts are broken on the unit you could always change out the parts yourself.

got mine blemished too. was 1.2 and nothing was wrong with it. the box was tore up, but the unit is sweet. try the big box stores like musicianfriend, sometimes you get lucky.

I wouldn't have any reservations in regards to the actual unit itself, unless the seller is shady.

it shouldnt really matter what firmware you have now that we can basicly do what ever firmware for under 40 bucks (25 for DJTT mod with shipping, 10$ for serial to usb cable)
