This is my kind of thread!!! It's been a while since I have been behind the decks but here is one of my all time favorites.
When I first started DJing in early '96, it was strictly DnB/Jungle.
Then in 1999, I heard "Paranoia" by Rennie Pilgrem, and from that point it was sooo on!
I started buying up all the TCR, Botchit, Marine Parade, Mob Records, Distinctive Breaks, etc..,
records I could get my hands on. I still have over 400+ NuSkool Breaks records.
I too have been wishing for Breaks to make a comeback in a big way. Obviously, you can still
get some good tunes from all sorts of labels (not even Breakbeat affiliated), but I mean, I want
Breaks to be as popular as they were from '99 til' '07......that was the Golden Era of Breaks, IMO.
Just a small sampling of my favs....
Breaks have the perfect tempo for dancing!!

My first show was DJ Dan opening for Uberzone opening for The Crystal Method. Breaks are in my blood lol. Haven't posted in this in awhile, but shooting through my playlist for tomorrow. Playing a breaks tag set with one of buddies at a big halloween show A lot of times I go heavy on the Florida sound, but trying to shy away from that a bit for this one and get a bit more melodic.
I'm particular fond of the frenzy remix of this track, but can't find it hosted online and I am not going go crazy posting it or hunting it down.
DJ Mag is running a 4-page article on the (re-) rise of breakbeat.
Breaks is most certainly back, my breaks loving brethren!

But....I'll be honest.
I have been playing breaks for 10 years and I know many of you have been playing breaks for even longer.
I started playing them again and now every 18 year old trap turn up dj in my city is jumping on the breaks bandwagon.
The fact that they are playing breaks doesn't make me mad, but they are only playing them because its "cool" to play breaks now.
I really do hate djs that have never played a certian style EVER, then they jump on facebook and make a post asking people to give them good breaks tracks....
And somehow within a month or two these bedroom djs are throwing these big breaks events and all the kandi kids are goin nuts...
And im like...yeah ive just been over here hustling and getting really nowhere.
I guess its time for me to move back into good DnB, to stay ahead of the posers.
end rant......
oh by the way...this is as real as it gets right here. this is something i would play in a breaks set.
