    Hi - Thanks. They are just that, weights (sometimes referred to as clamps). If you're not familiar, turntable weights lower resonance and provide a number of benefits including improved coupling and center dampening which translates to better overall audio performance at the stylus in the way of tightened low frequency response with more pronounced midrange and high frequencies. Additionally, turntable weights can also allow cupped/warped records to grip the platter mat that otherwise would've slipped during cue release.

    BTW for anyone interested, this unit has recently been put up for sale (link below). Currently working on a different design, but before it can be executed, this one needs to go in order to make room for new one.
