Dj in Apple or Clothing store
Hi everyone i am dj f0tif0 from dc and I have been rocking dc crowd in many different clubs.
The thing is that club job is at night.
Recently I heard that stores like apple store and others hire dj to play on their controllers or whatever they use.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to actually get into that because i would really love to do it during the day time.
thnx.

Maybe do a crazy set on the fly with the new vestax controller at the apple store at the releasing of the new controller while they're watching you and then ask them =p

You should try the Guess stores, I often see dj's playing there.

I'm doing showcases and workshops for Numark/Akai in musicshops.
What you should do depends on what the owner of the shop has in mind.
If it's some sort of showcase or workshop then:
Make a nice performance with some tracks people already know or remixes of them. Then afterwards tell the people what you were doing in an intelligible way.
Another approach is doing something, then explaining it (if anyone cares).
Also try not to be too awesome.
People will be likely to fear asking questions.
Yesterday at the "Musik Produktiv Messe" I went along with a very good hip-hop DJ who didn't get a lot of questions after his showcases because of that.
Also consider your track-choice depending on the shop you're spinning at.
In an Apple shop some Indie-Rock and Pop tracks would be welcome.
Electro, RnB and Hip-Hop suits better for clothing shops because people are likely to dress there for the club.

As far the apple store scenario, it all depends on the store. Some stores are expected to have live acts ie Santa Monica store. Some managers will make exceptions and allow acts even if there not required to do so but its hard. Go to the store ask the manager, if that doesnt work go to a store that has acts
