Default how to use the traktor macro efx effects

i am just curious - is there anyone who actually use the traktor macro efx effects, like streetch or event horizon and whatever they are called?
I have fiddled with most of them and just can´t see how I can use them, they are all too random.

They aren't random at all, however what you may need to get is that some of them do work best at some specific values (and so best on a on/off button/state, or on a knob where you set the desired value and you switch on and off the FX) while some others work best when using a decreasing or increasing movement (on a knob on or a button that will mimic that movement).

For example, set on some buttons the FX event horizon. Map different values (actually you'll see that there aren't many different for this one) on those buttons and make the buttons so they activate on and off the FX. That FX works great that way, and to my subjective opinion, not really on a knob.

For the other example you mention, strech, it's just a matter of being in time/on the beat.

Some of the macro FX are my favorites FX to use and are a welcome change on the most common combos out there.

There’s also an almost hermetic community that exists in many areas of dance music, where serious hobbyists feed off each other’s expertise but barely connect to the industry – despite many of those involved actually working in it.

Yeah try event horizon how I said, you'll instantly get what I meant. Drop it on the last 2 or 4 beats at the end of a phrase.

I kind of know how you feel. When they first came out I thought they were pretty random as well but as Yul mentioned you really do need to dial in specific values.

I find stretch works really good on just synth sounds or right before a drop.

Personally I dont like using event horizon when theres low frequencies (just a preference)

I think all of Traktors effects have their strenghts and weakness. It's just dependent on the actual song your playing i.e. a busy beat vs. a sparse beat.
