Default Ableton midi mapping for record arm

Hi all. I'm trying to do midi mapping in Ableton for an Akai lpd8. I'm able to get lpd8 button presses mapped to record arm buttons in ableton, but I'm not able to have the button color reflect the state of the record arm button. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to do that?

Do you mean on the Ableton interface?

Sorry, what I meant to ask was, how do I do a mapping where one of the pads on the lpd8 lights up when the record arm button is active. Can that be done in live? Or would I have to use max?
