Default Making DJ money in the states as a foreigner??

    Hey guys,

I'm a Swede who moved to San Francisco about a year ago and I just started getting gigs here. The place I'm DJing at says they have to pay me legally and they won't do it any other way, and since I'm here on a student visa (F-1) I'm not allowed to earn any money.

How can I get around this? Do I start my own business here? Is there a DJ collective of some sort that can accept the money for me? Any tips appreciated.

You do not "get around" anything. You follow the rules. See your Designated School Official and discuss your options.

Student work program is a good workaround for this. Talk to your student adviser and they will help you get everything straightened out. If you are unable to get it taken care of, simply just drop that gig and focus more on your studies.

    hah, good one.

i think the advice you're looking for is beyond the capacity of this forum. we don't advise you participate in any illegal activity. however, i'm sure someone out there would be willing to send you a private message.
