these tracks have been huge this year. “huge” relatively speaking of course.

    what would you call these?

i’ve seen them labeled deep house but i don’t think they’re funky enough to be deep house. the mood is pretty dark and brooding but there’s way too much vocals for it to be your traditional techno.

feel free to post up some more “deep techno”.

    that's not "deep techno"

scsi-9 makes some deep techno and have been doing so for a long time

vocals =/= deep, thought provoking does.

Well...these are sounds I definitely like. I've had that caribou track in and out of my cart for a while. I can't decide if it's too over the top. Well, actually I can...and it is. It's gorgous, I just can't see how it would ever fit into a set except as an intro.

I'm not sure what to call them, but you find them in stores labeled as deep house, techno, minimal, and indie dance (for some reason). I kind of think of it as what old trance actually turned into.

So...rather that making up a new genre name, I just spin it and be happy. Or boody. Whatever.
