Default How to implement modifiers to your controller settings?

How do you guys use modifiers? I haven't really messed with them and still don't really understand them. Ant help, advice and examples would be appreciated.

    Cheers!

use them to double the amount of controls

simple example .... say you have a controller with 5 buttons. You coauld have either 5 functions mapped ( one to each button ) or you could have eight different functions by having a shift button, so that when you hold shift and press a button it would have a different function than if you just pressed the button on its own without the shift button. Giving you 8 different functions from 5 buttons.
