    Default external hard drive--- firewire/usb?

its black friday and i'm thinking about buying a hard drive. i use ableton; will i be able to stream my music from the hard drive itself without noticeable latency/lag? would there be a major difference in a usb or a firewire one in playing clips?

buying the usb one could save me 100 bucks but it will take up one of my two usb ports that i need for my controller/soundcard.

    any tips?

I use this. Super fast, small, light and bounces when you drop it. (seriously tough).
    Firewire 400/800 and USB.

For me there is no alternative.

    SNAP!

And agreed! Also you can get different "skins" if you don't like the orange rubber trim (i went for the black)

Also firewire is faster and will keep one of your two usb ports free (for controller and sc). That's important!
