Default Is this an OK setup?

    Hi all
I don't want to be considered spamming the forums but it's a new question!

I've done some research and decided on some Mackie Thump 15's but then I found this which would be more suitable to playing drum and bass/the music I will be playing

    The setup will be

Two Alto TS115A speakers at 400w RMS and two Alto TSSub15's at 600w RMS

Does anyone know anything about Alto whether they are good or not?

Any tips if that is good enough for parties of about 100 people?
How should I prevent them from blowing?

I am thinking of maybe connecting to them via XLR to 3.5mm but if necessary maybe a mixer??

    Thanks

What mixer/controller are you connecting them to?

    How big is the venue?

I have those Altos as monitor speakers. They're pretty good.

Do I need to connect them to a mixer/controller? Can you suggest any?

The venue will vary in size really up to the size of a medium barn? haha

I think what happydan is asking you is "Where will you be playing the drum & bass from?"

So having some sort of mixer or controller with a soundcard would be preferable because you would likely be able to get MUCH better sound quality than a phone/laptop's sound output. You'd also have a lot more control over equalization and volume than a phone

Do you know what sort of things I would need? I don't want to be oversold a mixer with lots of features I just won't need? What about those mixers that offer bluetooth connectivity? Not to be trusted?

If you're hoping to host a Drum & Bass party, wouldn't you want to have actual DJs playing music rather than an iPod? Seems a bit like letting the passengers drive the bus... You're going to all this trouble to set up a PA system for 100 people (which isn't a small gathering) and just playing a playlist from your computer.
