Has this happened to anyone else?

    ... OS, Traktor version, etc?

Its never happened to me and I'd be one pissed off dude if it did. Any other details?

Wav files cannot be tagged. No information other than the filename and the uncompressed sound are stored in them. The collection is the only place where your grids and cues are stored, so by clearing the collection you are deleting them.

Thats a bit of a bummer. So the tracks that are MP3's can be cleared from the collection and your tags will still remain (it does this with the mp3's from the beatgrid tutorial)?

    It doesn't seem very logical.

When i was using timecode, i would delete my collection after each session and for a new session just import the tracks from my hardrives as i have many folders categorized under different genres.

Imagine beatgridding everything & accidently clearing the collection, LOL.

    Thanks alot for your reply!

Is this how you operate - never clearing your collection???

I never clear my collection because it is exactly that - my collection. It contains all my music files, beatgridded or not.
I also use .mp3s. Traktor automatically writes the tags to these files so even if my collection is lost the cuepoints and beatgrids can be retrieved from them.

I don't know how you could accidentally clear your collection. Just keep a backup and you should be okay.

I never clear my collection. Rather, the only time I cleared it is when I started this massive overhaul project. but even then I backed it up.
    It's the FAQ. Read it.

Thanks for the help from both of you.

I just need to ask one last question about importing your collection

After adding your music folders to your data location & when in the browser tree, is this the best place to access your different genre folders, apart from creating playlists?

By adding your folders to your data location, this does not actually add them to your collection as well does it?
You still need to physically "add to your collection".

And does anyone know why Traktor won't write tags to Wav files?

Thanks for all of your help.....
