How so? The TR-8 is a great bit of kit.

I honestly just was not happy with the sound that came from the unit. It seemed very dry compared to my old 808 and 909. ACB just isn't there quite yet

Why dont you actually tell us what you want to achieve before asking us what to buy? How do we know if you need a drum machine?

Mainly looking to add sounds to a live set, just add percussion to tracks really. I mix with three channels and the forth channel I use to add bass, snare loops etc. It works well but I like the look of the TR8 from the videos but just wondering is it a recommended. I have 500 to spend so just trying to see what I would have most fun with really.

If you're already using Traktor, why not get an F1?

The step sequencer seems a little buggy to me, but I only played around with it for a few minutes. But, if you're mostly adding percussion to tracks, it can definitely do that. I've done it before (and will again) based on loops pulled from tracks (or sampled "live") or stuff I made in a DAW.

IMHO, that's the killer use for the Remix decks, regardless of whether or not NI wanted to try to turn Traktor into Live.
I'm mostapha. I lost control of that acount and just decided to create another one.

The sequencer is no so much 'buggy' as it is a flawed workflow. Had they got it working sinilar to Ableton's Push does (or even Maschine), it would have been a dream.

Agreed. But, there's nothing they could do that would make it as powerful.

I haven't run traktor and another app together in years, but it seems like it's already more powerful to use live link to let ableton or maschine do all the heavy lifting and run the audio into a live input deck.

I'm pretty sure there is a more elegant solution, but I feel like it would take yet another deck flavor....which probably isn't ideal.

The way Serato interacts with Live is hands down the best way I can picture that stuff working. If NI could just make a Maschine "track" (or even deck flavor), like people have been suggesting for at least 5 years...that would be for the best.

Personally, it wasn't worth getting over the things that were different than I expected. Even using maschine or one of the m4l or python step sequencers for live, I kept just making the same ~8 patterns. So, I just bounced them and threw them in remix deck slots...which was easier when performing anyway.

I actually just beatmatch Ableton with Traktor by mapping Ableton's pitch bend to a couple of buttons.
