Default Old schooler needs a recommendation

    Hello DJTT,

    Looking to up date my gear a bit. I'm currently have 2x CDJ-1000 MK3's, 2x 1200's and a Pioneer DJM-3000.
The thing I'm looking to update most is the mixer. The faders are going, lot's of static ect. The CDJ's are a bit outdated and the 1200's ain't going no where =).

Pretty much a bedroom DJ, will do one or two house parties for friends during the summer. This is a hobby for me if that means anything in terms of a recommendation.

So the question would be, buy a new standalone mixer? Or keep current decks and update to a controller and use my 1200's when I want?

    Matt

Ah yes, I frogot about that Important detail.

Let's say we cap it at $1200 or so. Little more or less should be ok. Of course less is always nice.

You won't replace the CDJs for that, but maybe the mixer. Depends what you want, really. I'd suggest going for the Xone:PX5.

Thoughts about going the controller route then?

If that's what you want. You'll probably need to have a laptop, though. Only other real options are the DDJ-RX line... or the DDJ-1000. I think that should be in budget (I'm UK based, and you could probably find it for just over a grand GBP).

For your budget, I'd recommend the DDJ-1000. It's standalone, and similar to your current setup. If you want to stick with Traktor, you could get the S8 and run timecode with your 12x0s and CDJs. S8 comes with full Traktor Scratch, including the records/CDs.

EDIT: and you'd have some cash spare to expand your setup with something like a drum machine or Maschine Jam...
