Default Recording DJ mixes live - Zoom H5

    Hi,

I've recently purchased a Zoom H5 for the intention of recording DJ mixes at home, converting old vinyl to digital, and recording mixes live at gigs.

When recording at home I'll been plugging into my Left and Right Booth Out of my mixer via 1/4" TRS and going into the Zoom H5 via 1/4" TRS. At a gig I may not have this option as the Booth Out will most likely be taken, and obviously the XLR main outputs will also be taken.

What other options would I have at a gig to record into the Zoom H5?

Most mixers have a record out, or a second RCA master out.

I've found a cable which is RCA to 1/4" TS. Will using a TS be a problem as they are unbalanced mono signals? Would it be safe to say I might only get the left side of my recordings if used?

Dual RCA to 1/4" TS or XLR should do the trick:
