MFT -- Help! I'm totally lost after reset and install of Live 12.1
I've been using MFT with Live 10-12 and long time user of remotify CSS, though once I get things working I pretty much leave them alone. But now that I've upgraded to Live 12.1 I'm dead in the water.
I've been able to get CSS (2.8.5) working and exporting scripts into Live. Ie, I see my scripts in the settings. I've also factory reset my MFT using the 2.9 utility.
But my old scripts aren't working. I'm getting either nothing happening or control doesn't exist in session msgs. I've got a lot of versions of junk scripts, and imported templates and it's all a bit confusing as to what worked all this time.
So I figure I'll start from scratch. All I want to do is have all 16 MFT knobs control Mute and Volume of the corresponding track. Maybe Press+turn = an effects send.
If I start from scratch, which template do I start with and what are the basic steps I need to do to the MFT first? Since I did a factory reset and FW update, do I need to import something into it first?
Tx!!

Well, no one answers these msgs and after a lot of trial and error I found part of a solution myself so I’ll jot it down for anyone else having similar.
1) seems like the MFT factory default settings are fine – That’s the mode CSS expects. So I didn’t need to load any special setup using the MFT utility.
2) I downloaded the latest MFT Controller Template in CSS from Remotify, but none of my scripts would work with it.
It seems like the Buttons and Knobs have been renamed to be sequential and no longer relate to the actual controller. So Knob1 + Button2 work for controller 1, Knob3 and Button4 for Controller 2 and so on. WTF – very unintuitive! And my old scripts were mapped to buttons and knobs whose names were now different.
3) So I found an older MFT controller template in my local CSS scripts folder where it’s simpler. Ie, Knob1 and Button1 go with Controller1, K8+B8=C8, and so on.
Much easier to map buttons.
This let me quickly map the 16 buttons and knobs and get what I need again. So I’m back in biz.
Now I just have to figure out how to map the effect send with Push + Twist. Looks like Mode does that. Hoping that won’t take me 10 hours to figure out….
