Going from Traktor to Pioneer Stand Alone : Need Help
Hello! Been using Traktor since 2006, and have progressed with controllers to my current set up (S4 MK3, 2 Allen Heath K2s, 2 F1 Kontrols). Using TP4. I absolutely love the depth of mapping and features like Remix Decks, Pattern Player, etc. However, after 10 years of being a bedroom DJ (family, work, etc pulled me away from clubs and events), I have been wanting to get back into doing clubs / venues. I know many have Pioneer DJM set ups, so I'm looking to buy 2 CDJ 3000s, DJS 1000, and DJM V10. I know at home I can flex between HID to still use Traktor, but I want to start using the equipment in stand alone mode (USB prepped with Rekordbox) so I can then go into clubs or events and feel more familiar with the set up, and can do things there without laptop. I know with some things below I could use a laptop to run something like Ableton to create FXs and such (and still not rely on DJ software). But right now looking for laptop-less usage (unless I get into Ableton Live)
For those with experience, here are my questions:
1) What can I use to replicate the Remix Deck experience? I know the DJS 1000 has live remix sampling, but not sure if you can control individual samples with volume, filter, FX etc like the F1.
2) What can be used in place of the Pattern Player? Again, I know the DJS 1000 has great capabilities in setting patterns, with probably more depth in each pad, but are there kits that have pre made sets to easily use like Traktor's Pattern Player? Or do I need to just manually go in and set everything up?
3) Can I use the DJS 1000 or any other FX controller / equipment to create instant FX combos? The best thing about Traktor is I have my AH K2s set up with lots of different aids in FXs. Some are just one FX that progressively change as long as I hold it down. Some are one shot FXs. Others combine several FXs into a combo, with or without changing parameters if I keep it held down. Some I use for freezes, echo outs, risers, build ups, spirals, etc. I know the DJM V10 has lots of FX, but can the DJS 1000, RMX 1000, etc be used to create similar combos?
4) What can be used to do Tone Play with DJM/CDJ/DJS? Again, I use AH K2 for that, so not sure what can be used in its place.
5) Does the RMX 1000 really give you that much more FX options? Looking into multiple videos, it seems a lot of that can be done either with the DJM or the DJS 1000. What makes the RMX 1000 unique?
6) I'm not necessarily looking to produce music, but curious about Ableton Live and how it can embellish my mixes. I do everything, but lean a lot in Techno, Tech, EDM, etc. In what way do DJs use Ableton Live (stand alone equipment again) to do different things?
Again, I know a lot of professional DJs (I'm not trying to be that) do wonders with DJM/CDJ/DJS, but would like creative and deep FX options.
Thank you for your help!
