2,66 gHz Intel Core 2 Duo vs 2,3 gHz i5 MBP

2,66 gHz Intel Core 2 Duo vs 2,3 gHz i5 MBP

Hey guys, the decision for a MBP has been made. The only question that’s left is; which one should I pick?

2,66 gHz Intel Core 2 Duo (from a warehouse not for away) 4 GB ram (max 8 gb) Battery: 10 hours = € 1.200,00
OR
2,3 GHz, dual-core Intel Core i5 (Apple Store) 4 GB ram (max 8 gb) Battery: 10 hours, iLive 2011, os x 10.7 lion etc.
= € 1.149,00

Music wise I would still opt for the OSX Snow Leopard version above OSX Lion.

Core 2 Duo > Dual Core, especially if the Core 2 Duo has 2.66Ghz and the dual core only has 2.3

But that’s just my two cents.

It’s a Dual Core i5, does that make a difference? Core 2 Duo > Dual Core i5?

I’d go for the i5 model over the C2D.

Comparison between Core 2 Duo and Core i5.

Even at a lower clock speed the Core i5 will wipe the floor with the Core 2 Duo.

i5 will smoke the shit out of a C2D processor. Ive been trying to explain this to people, but they think the higher the clock speed the faster its gonna be.

The Megahertz Myth is back.

Defo the i5. Not only is it faster, it’s just a newer model and thus has a higher value, for even less money.
No-brainer really!

Ah, didn’t see the I5 part.

Sorry, guess I’m human after all.

Hell the 13’ 1.7ghz MBA i5 is roughly double the speed of the 17’ MBP 2.6 c2d.

Go with the i5 all the way dude the 2.3 will be screaming

No man can make over 8k posts and remain human, but if you are trying to retain some part your humanity we do understand however and are here to help. (might I suggest a new thread on the matter)

The decision has been made (i5). Thanks for the help guys!
