Anyone else playing this stuff ?

link an example

sounds like uk garage. but bassier and minimaler(minimaler? that should totally be a word!). :stuck_out_tongue:

Go urban dictionary it!

Its kinda like UK Garage with more bass.. but Garage is such a huge term that it doesnt mean anything.

Basics:

  • 4x4 beat with offbeat snares (like a lot of UK Garage)
  • Focus on Bass (Sub-Bass)
  • Warbling sine-bass, pitch shifted rather then using notes
  • Often has female vocals (sometimes pitched up)

Check the wiki for more info (Bassline (music genre) - Wikipedia)

Not the hugest fan tbh, its kinda cheesy and repetitive imo and lacks the subtlety/groove of minimal 2-Step/Garage and the mad distorted fucked up glitched out slammingness of fidget/electro house.

Tho it does work if mixed in with other garage/electro/fidget house, I just find a whole set of it fucking boring personally.

More minimal? Maybe it should be your DJ name =)

pseudonym.

It’ll be the Cajmere to my Green Velvet.

agreed …

I checked out the Freq Nasty Fabriclive mix he just recently did that was 98 percent bassline and I was feeling the same. Too much hyper cheese for me although the krs-one sound of the police remix was tight :sunglasses:

Interesting, Freq Nasty is a weird one. Plays with so many genres, dub/breaks/bassline/electro/dubstep/dnb. Never know what to expect from that guy. Should definately check out his fabric mix then.

I find most sets of only ones style of music really boring .

Hmmm I guess sometimes yes, but often no, IMO it depends on the genre if that genre allows for much diversity or not, bassline doesnt seem to, same with any of the ‘Hard’ genres, thus why I’m not the hugest fan of them..

I do however enjoy a full Dark/Tech DnB set, Electro or Dubstep set.

This is cos I just like pilling to tech DnB, dont need much else if I’m off my nut, tho it is nice to bring the mood up/down using less amping tracks etc. & Electro/Dubstep are just such wide genres that you can stay within them and still include mad different atmospheres.

Actually when I play it I’ve been playing it with Electro and Dubstep seems alot of the guys from the UK don’t really like it played like that but I’m with you in it bein too much by it self
