A mixing database for DJ's

A mixing database for DJ’s

Like most DJ’s I spend quite a lot of time just messing around mixing, and often I surprise myself with tracks that mix superbly from one to the other.
I tend to try to incorporate these into playlists but this is not practical when you have one track that mixes well into 5 others.

What I want is a simple database where I can make a note of a track, what mixes well into it, and what mixes well out of it. And to have this displayed simply and clearly.

It would make pulling off quality mixes on the fly much simpler. It would make building sets much quicker. Plus I wouldn’t forget all the good mixes I’ve discovered whilst practising.

Does such a thing exist?
It’s not the first time this idea has occurred to me - I’ve been looking for years but never found anything.

i use the comment2 section in traktor for this..

yeah I use the comments also…make sure to write it the moment you practice it.

I’ve also found the more I gig, the more I play, the more I remember what tracks went well and I make my playlist/crates based on that…and keep my options somewhat limited to songs I know go well together so I’m not searching through 1000’s of songs.

It’s called Rapid Evolution:

Key detector and mix database. Exactly what you’re looking for (and more).

Wow, thanks! I’ll try it out and post a report

If you’ve got the patience (I haven’t) to learn/use it, it’s awesome. Imagine being able to remember every single mix-out that you ever did, and rate/comment on 'em all.

It means you have to have RE open every time you mix, and be able to switch to it, make comments, and save every time, though.

It’s an excellent habit to get into if you can.
