Ableton gets one step closer to being DJ friendly…

http://blog.maffialife.com/2010/12/05/v-djm-2ch-maffialife-vst/

This is pretty insane. A VST that emulates a traditional DJ mixer. What’s so special about that? The fact that it’s MIDI mappable and aggregates all your controls into a single interface. Pretty slick stuff!

I found out about it at Dario Maffia Releases V-DJM, Free VST DJ Mixer Emulator For Ableton Live < FutureMusic the latest news on future music technology DJ gear producing dance music edm and everything electronic

sweet downloading now will test it out report back

that’s really cool. if they keep on in this direction traktor’s days as the leading dj software may be numbered.

Isn’t all that pretty much built into Ableton? I guess it’s nice that it makes it a bit more visually familiar, but the built in effects should pull off the exact same thing functionality wise O.o

It would be really sick if this was a built in plugin though O.O

I need to d/l this after work and report back.

Is it windows only?

Thats what im screaming…

only advantage i see is centred eq knobs

Nice find!!

just had a little mess about with this and i think its a great idea

not a fan of the efx but its not a bad little vst with a bit of work could be great things

Yes, it’s PC only for now.

All the functionality IS already in Live, but the workflow here is intuitive and it makes the process of MIDI mapping up to a controller easier for people who may find mapping Live’s interface a little intimidating.

Here’s hoping it will come 2 a mac near me soon!

looks great… would love to see a Xone db4 version of this

to be honest…I don´t see any advantages comparing this VST to the stock stuff that comes with Live.

I just tried it…

Like someone said the centered EQs seem to be the only big advantage beside the familiar feel. I really wish they had a 4 or 6 channel version of this. I really like it alot, however, its only 2 channel so it seems rather pointless. The only option i have if i wanna have 4 or 6 channels going is to have 3 of these mixers up and not sure if thatll even work.

Looks and feels awesome though. If u only need 2 channels and miss the feel of an old school mixer, specially because of abeltons retarded EQ knobs(which im used to now) this is the answer for U.

I second that.

I would be willing to pay for a 4 or preferably 8 channel VST like this.

The thing that I find with developers like this guy is that they’re usually open for comments. You might drop by and let him know that you’re interested.

I’ll also add that he does have a DONATE button on his website.

Pretty pointless IMO. Everything on there is already in Ableton and can be mapped to a real MIDI controller…

i´d prefer a VST that provides traktor’ish music collection + players :disappointed:

have you tried deckadance?
