Ableton Live & Akai APC40 Live PA Set Up
Details on how I use Ableton Live and the APC40 to play live:

Not quite DJing per se, but Ableton seems to be popular here, so maybe someone finds it interesting.
Very excellent article, and really something that rings some bells along the lines I’m mentally working at the moment. It’s nice to read how someone has gone through and organized their workflow.
Thanks, glad you found it useful!
I don’t use the same workflow for DJing but I’m glad you posted this for Ableton. Always something to learn with that program.
I’ve had the APC 40 for the last couple months, but have really just been getting a feel for it in a studio setting-- been relying on my NS7+Itch for DJing and haven’t really taken the time to map out the Akai+Live to use in that capacity.
I guess it all depends on personal preference and how hands-on you want to get with your performance, but got any links/suggestions for getting setup to DJ with the APC?
For instance, one issue I’ve run into (that may have a simple solution, I dunno) in designing a proper workflow is trying to restrict my set to 8 total tracks, so I don’t have to move the red selection box left-to-right at all (an action which, at least with my current settings, totally ruins the tracking of the physical channel faders). So I warp the songs I think I might wanna play, and chop it to a few clips of different lengths to use as cue points. But if I decide playing live I want to mix two songs that I happened to put in the same track, do I have to drag and drop one of the songs to an open track since you can only play one clip per track at a time?
I feel like there’s better ways to organize a set if you plan on playing mostly other people’s productions, but I can’t seem to get the hang of it.
Would have been the simplest thing in the world to stick in. I like your method of dealing with it
