Ableton VST problem

Ableton VST problem

Just installed ableton on my new mac and installed a handful of pspaudioware plugins simply by double clicking and installing to macintosh hd. The plugins work fine in ableton but i want to delete a couple. When i go to my VST folder (library>audio>plugins>VST) i can’t find any of the files! The folder is empty. Any suggestions on how to find them? I’ve tried spotlight but no luck at all!

This one might be a no brainer, but go and make sure that Ableton is getting its VST’s from that actual folder in the first place.

Do Macs not have a dedicated place for uninstalling/repairing programs?

Definitely that folder. In order to uninstall it i have to drag the vst to trash. It’s not so much the uninstalling but also organising the plugins into folders. The custom vst folder, that i made in order to drag vsts into, displays them fine but the system vst folder, to which the psp plugins install via default, is empty.

It’s like the vsts aren’t on my mac at all but i can use them in ableton! Strange

You actually have two libraries on OSX, a user one, and a system one, though in Lion the system one is hidden by default.

So therefore you have two plug in folders too. Use the above to find the other one.

Perfect! Thanks a lot for that. Was starting to drive me insane!

Vst

I am having this same problem, but I am not running Lion.

I did an alt-command re-scan in ableton, and all of a sudden they are no longer in the VST folder, but i can use them all.

literally 10 seconds before i did the total rescan they were located in Library>Audio>Plugins>VST

no idea what’s going on here, help please!

nevermind, turns out i’m an idiot. problem solved. read your post wrong at first. thanks Tarekith.
