Adding CDJs to the S4

Adding CDJs to the S4

Hey guys so there probably is already another thread to this but i wanted to make it easy for myself.

Currently im using just an S4 and a launchpad with 4 deck midi fighter mapping.

I really hate having to switch from A to C and B to D decks and have decided to incorporate some CDJs into my setup.

Now I am not a scratcher so i dont really need to worry about that end of it.

What i want to know is what is the easiest way to incorporate some CDJs.

Would adding some DNS3700s in midi mode be easier than getting Scratch upgrade and using CDJ1000s with timecode?

To my understanding if i get the scratch upgrade…i plug in 2 cdjs into the RCA input on my decks, and off i go…is this correct?

With the DNS3700s i would have the option to do above OR plug it in directly to my laptop and use it in midi mode.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Exact, can’t be more simple than this. If one day you want or go to a place who’s having turntable, it’s still plug & play.

You can plug the Denon’s and use them in HID mode, way better resolution than MIDI. It won’t be easier (since both ways are pretty simple) only cheaper.

PS: Traktor doesn’t support motorized platters.

Im a little interested in this post, cause I would like to add two CDDJ to my S4!! My question is what is a good CDDJ to use that doesnt just kill the bank account? Im not a scratch DJ, and only use the jogs to scan tracks and ajust cue points. Im just thinking about some to control C & D functions like like play, que’s, ect.

IMO get anything by pioneer…not that I’m a fanboy but it is pretty standard for clubs to have pio decks and mixer…so if u ever do club gigs u are familiar with them

could you use the stanton c.324 cdjs with the s4? I was looking into those for cheap decent cdjs.. any thoughts about that specific cdj?

Get the 800 mkII or even the old 800 MKI

800mkII’s have a great feel to the jogwheels, if you want to be able to have button control you may want the cdj400s. Have you looked into the denon dn-sc200’s? They are cheap and can give you the extra jogs.

get the scratch upgrade, it’s eazy as hell just plug an play, TT cdj’s whatever.
