Allen & Heath Xone:K2 - LEDS in Ableton Live 9
I have a drum rack set and using the buttons labelled A to P on the k2 to play the rack.
I worked out that the notes the k2 sends for each of these buttons do not correspond to the standard notes that Live uses.
as I am using Nord Beat app on my iPad to play the rack as a drum machine, so the note numbers had to stay the same (default) in live.
the drum rack track was taking the midi input from my Native Instruments Audio 10 which my iPad feeds via an iRigMIDI
The solution I came up with was to set blank midi track and take the input from a k2 and send it to the drum rack track
Using pitch from Live’s midi effects on the track the k2 goes in, I could change the notes to what the rack uses.
I then had an idea to extend this further to use more slots in the rack
I added a second pitch effect on the k2 track, and using the switch of an encoder at the bottom, change if this second pitch is on or off, thus changing the notes sent and allowing another part of the drum rack to be played.
The problem is now this:
I don’t know what part of the rack the notes are set to play, before I play.
objective is to use the leds to light up the whole grid (buttons labelled A to P) one of the 3 colors (red, amber, or green) so I know what part of the rack is going to be triggered depending on what the pitch is set to play on the rack before I press anything
if it is not possible, then is it possible to have some different visual(led) guide as to what will be triggered?
the only feedback I’ve managed to do is this:
another empty midi track, input from and to the k2.
this lights up the leds, only when a button is kept pressed down (note on state) as soon as the button is released (note off state) it is no longer illuminated.
I do not want the drum rack to use more than one latching layer.
The way I use the k2, each latching layer is a separate instrument.
